Fred Bernier
Fred Bernier has been dedicated to the study and practice of Japanese martial arts since 1978. He holds senior black belt ranks and formal teaching licenses in both Japanese Jujutsu and Iaido, demonstrating a sustained commitment to these disciplines.
He holds the ranks of Menkyo Kaiden Shihan (License, Full Transmission, Master Instructor) in Hakko Ryu Jujutsu; 7th Degree, Renshi Shihan, (Licensed Expert Master Instructor) in Yoshitsune Jujutsu; and 5th Degree, Renshi, Shidoin (Licensed Expert Instructor) in Ryushin Shouchi Ryu Iaijutsu.
Dr Bernier is also a Doctor of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, a New Jersey Licensed Acupuncturist, and Medical Herbalist. A graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, he possesses a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic applications. His medical clinic is conveniently located within his traditional Japanese martial arts dojo, reflecting the integration of his expertise.
His commitment to service extends to his military background, having served with the 1st Infantry Division as a Recon Scout from 1972 to 1974.
Mr. Bernier has been married to Cathy for 50 years and resides in Secaucus, NJ. They have two grown sons and three grandchildren.

Jerry Tardi
Jerry Tardi has over 25 years of experience in Japanese martial arts. He holds the prestigious title of Menkyo Kaiden, Shihan (License, Full Transmission, Master Teacher) in Hakko Ryu Jujutsu, and also holds black belt ranks in Iaido and Kendo. Additionally, he has achieved advanced black belt rank in Isshin Ryu Karate and is a certified Koho Shiatsu practitioner.
Mr. Tardi maintains a strong dedication to continued training, working closely with his teacher and mentor, Joe Miller. Miller Sensei, who has lived in Japan for over 20 years and received his Menkyo Kaiden, San Dai Kichu directly from Ryuho Okuyama, the founder of Hakko Ryu Jujutsu, in 1988. This direct lineage ensures the authenticity and depth of Mr. Tardi's instruction.
Mr. Tardi, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, now resides in Freehold, NJ surrounded by his family.
